The Christmas Kids Carnival was at Lake Michigan College this year. I was the Photographer for the Santa's Snap Shot. I had never handled an event like this before. The gentleman playing Santa was dressed in a beautiful period costume. He warned me that the line would be long, and it was. I did 576 portraits in three and a half hours. I've done many Girl Scout father/daughter dances that were fast paced, but not like this. I brought my own back drop and lighting system because I wanted consistent lighting. The hall was going to use a black drape as a back drop but I thought the Christmas fireplace would be much better. I had the posting site I was going to use all set up and several large cards with the link for people to photograph with their cell phones. If the parents had a cell phone (most did) I had then either stand next to me or squat in front of me. This was a simple way to get the child to look in my direction and it kept the parents out of my way. The parents were happy because years cell phones had not been allowed.
I did Brittnie & Robbie's session in Creek Ridge park. One of my favorite spots. Their session was the one nice day in a cold and rainy week. Many of the trees had lost their leaves, but there were a few maples that were still holding on. The couple was not sure what they wanted so I played it by ear. It was chilly but they did most of their photos with out coats. Our last shot was the leaf toss.
Camie and Levi were married in Hawthorn park on October 28th. It was only about forty degrees but they went ahead with an out door wedding. We started with a first look in a near by location. The wedding was quick but went smoothly. As you might expect they had a spooky theme for their reception. The hall was very well decorated and most of the guests came in costume. The couple had rented the Social Booth from us and it was a big hit with the guests. Using it also allowed the couple to get photographs of most of the costumes.
Alejandra and Kyle are getting married on October 6th, 2018. They scheduled their engagement session this month so we could catch the fall colors. They also decided to bring their dog along. Alejandra and Kyle were high school sweat harts that stayed together through Kyle's service in the military and Alejandra's completion of her degree in Special Education. I also got to meet Alejandra's parents who came along to watch the dog. We had a beautiful day for the session and a great time playing in the leaves.
Amber and Zach got married in the Allure, in LaPorte IN. The allure is one of my favorite halls to photograph in. The weddings are held in the lower floor and the reception is in the ball room on the main floor. I started with Zach and the guys on the lower floor. We were doing a "first look" so I had plenty of time to get most of the formals done before the wedding. The bridal room on the upper floor has beautiful old brick walls and I love doing the getting ready shots in that room.
